The eyes of the world were fixed like never before on the village of Doonbeg yesterday as it hosts President Donald Trump and his wife Melania, as part of their visit this week to a series of engagements in Europe.
While there was huge speculation that Mr Trump and the First Lady might make a trip into the village last night, it was actually Donald’s sons Eric and Don Jr that made an appearance, visiting all four pubs in the village and thanking local people for their support of the Trump International Golf Resort.
Trump met Taoiseach Leo Varadkar at Shannon Airport as Air force One touched down on the tarmac at around a quarter to 5 last evening. Gavin Grace was among the delegation of international media covering that meeting.
Clare’s Fianna Fail TD Timmy Dooley gives us his reaction to the Taoiseach’s meeting with Donald Trump and we asked him about this tweet that he sent Leo Varadkar yesterday..
.@LeoVaradkar please man up to @realDonaldTrump today – vigorously and openly challenge his support for a no deal Brexit – outline the negative consequences for Doonbeg and Ireland.

Dr Emma Kearney joined us from Ennis Medical Aesthetics LIS to talk all things Acne and how to best deal with it.
Gavin reminded people about the the story from the Independent that he read out last week about a new book by former Justice Minister Alan Shatter. ‘Frenzy and Betrayal; The Anatomy of a Political Assassination’ is the title of the publication that made a number of claims about the behavior of the Taoiseach at the time of the Garda whistle blower controversy and the subsequent treatment of Mr Shatter in the inquiries that followed.
Five years after quitting Cabinet, Mr Shatter has decided to tell his side of the story and spoke to Gavin about what affect it has on him.
Ennis actor Simone Kirby joined Gavin to talk about a stunning new drama called ‘Cleft’ that has allowed her to take to her home stage in Glór in a major co-production with Rough Magic, and in association with Galway International Arts Festival and Kilkenny Arts Festival, supported by Creative Ireland.
Cleft tells the powerful and disturbing story of family ties and their ability to stifle as well as support. The world premiere of Cleft takes place in Glór on Friday June, 7 at 8pm.
