Then Dr Michael Harty TD gave his view on the rural post office closures which are now confirmed across the county and country. In Clare these include Doonbeg, Cree, Cooraclare, Lissycasey, Craggagh-Fanore and Kilfenora. Fanore will see a meeting tonight while Kilfenora will have one tomorrow.

The hour ended with a passionate commenter John from Kilkee. John was concerned about Clare’s rural post office closures and said that if Fianna Fáil are true to their word about saving them they should pull out of the confidence and supply agreement.

The second hour opened with show regular Dr Toby Sachesenmaier for this week’s Parenting Advice segment. This week’s focus was sleep, bedtime and morning routines for kids going into the new term.

Then we heard from Dave Flynn the Founder, Composer and Artistic Director for the Irish Memory Orchestra. Next year visually impaired musicians and singers will join the orchestra for what is set to be a very major and unique symphony. The project is supported by the Arts Council under the Invitation to Collaboration Scheme. The project has faced some criticism for receiving €73,000 but Dave says that this money must cover a range of costs including the creation of the symphony, paying around 40 musicians for several days of training and rehearsals, hiring staff to manage the project, putting on a show in Glór with all the production costs that involves and paying the company 3L to develop and maintain a website and online learning resources for blind and vision impaired musicians.
