We dedicated today’s show to the late Laura Brennan, a twenty six year old woman from Ennistymon who passionately campaigned for awareness and distribution of the HPV vaccine after she was diagnosed with terminal cervical cancer. She passed away yesterday and we celebrated her life on this morning’s programme.
Firstly on the show, we had John Wall, who worked closely with Laura as a patient advocate. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer lat July and both him and Laura pushed for greater awareness of both of their cancers.

Next on the show, we were joined on air by another remarkable guest, Vicky Phelan who paid tribute to Laura by sharing stories of her strength and passion.

Afterwards, Gavin spoke to Mary Skehan from Slainte an Chláir, who often worked with Laura at their charity. We heard from Councillor Michael Begley about the book of condolences and we spoke to Gerry O’Reilly from the Clare Association, who awarded Laura Clare Person of the year.

We also heard from the Direct Provision Centre in Ennistymon, about a craft market coming this Saturday. Gavin spoke to the organisers and some of the people crafting for the market.
