Thursday’s Morning Focus put the spotlight on issues affecting Clare’s young people, with a special in-studio panel discussion featuring Emerald Kenny and Ben Sweeney, with NUIG welfare officer, Megan Reilly on the phone.

The show opened with a discussion on the future of services for Kilkee. Cillian Murphy and Johnny Williams outlined plans to secure investment from all over the world, from those with a connection to the town.

The periodic payments system was then discussed. That aims to support people with personal injuries to pay out in a phased way, rather than a lump sum. Pat Flynn discussed the issue with Gwen Bowen of Bowen and Co Solicitors, Sixmilebridge.

The Ennis-Galway rail line has seen a growth in use, according to Pat’s next guest. Colmán Ó Raghallaigh of West on Track told Pat the line has seen a ‘renaissance’.

Dr Máire Finn of Ennis Family Medical Centre was Gavin’s next guest. Her topic this week was the menopause. Listen back below:

A new student scholarship scheme at LIT was the next topic for discussion. Terry Twomey, the VP of Academic Affairs and Registrar joined Pat in studio.

The StudentLife summit was the next topic for discussion. That’s taking place at the UL Concert Hall and Rita Kelly the Event Founder and CEO joined Pat on the line.

Robert Mizelle is coming to Killimer next Thursday (Nov 23) and ahead of that gig, he joined Pat on the line. He’s also recently released a single in aid of the Marie Keating Foundation.

The show rounded off today with a visit from Orlaigh Meere of the award-winning Meere’s Puddings. They were recently awarded the highly prestigious Irish Quality Food Small Producer title. Listen back below:
