The show opened with a look at a major spike in overcrowding at Emergency Departments this week. A record of 677 people were waiting across the country on Wednesday for admission to hospital. Gavin was joined by Dep Michael Harty (Ind) who says the implementation of Sláinte Care – a ten year plan to reform the health service – is critical to reducing hospital overcrowding.

Senator Rónán Mullen was Gavin’s next guest. He told him why he’s produced a minority report which goes contrary to the recommendations to the Oireachtas Committee on the Eight Amendment. Listen back below:

Dr Máire Finn was next in studio with help and advice on giving up smoking. Listen back below:

Then Gavin heard from Michael Fitzgerald and John O’Brien of the Shannon Archaeological and Historical Society on their programme for 2018.

Next up for discussion was the issue of poverty and the plight facing those using the services of the St Vincent de Paul Society. Gavin was joined in studio by the Chairperson of St Vincent de Paul in Clare, John Cullinane.

The status of the library building on Harmony Row in Ennis – which is to be vacated as a new €8.6 million facility will be built close to glór – was then discussed. Cllr Johnny Flynn discussed a submission he’s made on the future of the building and told Gavin why he believes it should be retained as an arts space.

Susie Q, a Limerick-based musician and blogger, then joined Gavin. She told him why she’s appealing for hope and peace in a volatile world.
