Mountaineer, Adventurer and Entrepreneur Pat Falvey led the first ever Irish expedition to reach the South Pole on 8th January, 2008, he had previously been involved in numerous endurance treks including climbing the highest peak on every continent.
The Beyond Endurance expedition set off in November 2007 and covered 1,100km over the harsh terrain
He’s giving a motivational talk to help small businesses to ‘Reach for the Stars,’ at the Woodstock Hotel in Ennis on Wednesday evening at 6pm as part of ‘Enterprise Mid-West’.
Organised by Clare County Enterprise Board in collaboration with four other Enterprise Boards from the Mid-West it is aimed at Clare’s small business community and those thinking of setting up a business in the county, the ambitious programme of events was launches it’s Clare events this week.
It includes the launch of a visitor-friendly map for tourism providers, free mentoring clinics, an inspirational talk from mountaineer and entrepreneur, Pat Falvey, a resilience building workshop with Therese Ryan and a discussion around local economics and development with economist, Stephen Kinsella.

Clare FM has scooped the best local radio station title  at this year’s PPI radio awards (Phonographic Performance Ireland)
The county’s number one radio station claimed two awards   at the ceremony last evening in Kilkenny
It is the first time in the stations history it has claimed the best local radio accolade having previously secured bronze and silver
The station also claimed a bronze award  for best news bulletin
John Cooke was joined in studio by Susan Murphy, General Manager of Clare FM, Liam O’Shea, Executive Chairman, Clare FM and Sean Murtagh, Chairman PPI Committee congratulated the station on this accolade

Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport Leo Varadkar TD has (Friday) presented proposals for the biggest tourism initiative ever staged in Ireland
‘The Gathering’ will be a year-long event in 2013 where people at home and abroad can play a part in the country’s recovery, potentially bringing 325,000 extra visitors and providing a major economic stimulus
Speaking as he showcased the proposal at the Global Irish Economic Forum, Minister Varadkar said: ‘This is an invitation to the world to come and join in Ireland’s renewal.
The Gathering will be a year-long programme of events, festivals and fun designed to bring record numbers of visitors
It’s an opportunity for people at home and abroad to play a part in Ireland’s renewal, and help to rebrand Ireland on the world stage’

The Kilkee Moments Project
A group of volunteers are working on a charitable project in aid of The Kilkee Marine Rescue Service
The idea involves creating a photographic book of Kilkee and is driven primarily through social media, requesting photos from the public
This is a fun project and they would  like to raise the level of awareness, to request photographs from the public and to talk about their sponsorship packages
Jerome Murphy, an amateur photographer, and Haidee McCaffery of the group joined John in studio asking people to submit their photographs
