The Children’s Rights Referendum was passed by a narrow margin, with final results from all count centres across the country showing a result of 58pc in favour versus 42pc against
The turnout varied in the 43 constituencies but overall reached a very low 33.49pc
In real terms, 1,066,239 people voted – out of a total electorate of 3,183,239

On Monday’s Morning Focus John Cooke discussed the vote and the turnout with Clare Deputies Joe Carey of Fine Gael and Timmy Dooley of Fianna Fail.

Tanya Ward, Chief Executive of the Children’s Rights Alliance, thanked the people of Clare for being amongst the constituencies to record the highest percentage of yes votes in the country, with just under 62 percent of the electorate in favour of the constitutional change
