Morning Focus Monday January 23

The issue of emigration was up for discussion on Monday’s Morning Focus and John Cooke was joined by Gerry Johnson and Tom Downes from Kilmihil

Gerry Johnson from Kilmihil conducted a survey in the parish recently that found at least 87 people have emigrated in the last two years – the majority of which are between the ages of 20-30
Many people were upset by comments made by Michael Noonan last week when he said that, for many, emigrating from Ireland is an opportunity to travel, rather than an economic necessity
Gerry disagrees and says for Kilmihil’s emigrant’s emigration is an economic necessity

Tom Downes of Kilmihil GAA Club and Munster GAA Delegate discussed how the Club has lost many of its players through emigration
