Last September the Age Friendly County Programme was launched in Clare by The Clare Age Friendly Alliance which is hosted by Clare County Development Board
They are commencing consultations with the older people of Clare next week so that they can hear the views of elderly people on how we can make the county more Age Friendly
 An age friendly county is a place where more and more older people:

• Can stay living in their own homes and communities
• Lead healthy and active lives
• Get to where they want to go, when they want to go
• Are valued contributors to the lives of their communities
• Live in places where the social and physical environments are safe and conducive to being out-and about

On Monday’s Morning Focus John Cooke was joined by former Bishop of Killaloe Dr. Willie Walshe, Patricia Goan, Age Friendly Counties Programme Manager West and Clare County Manager Tom Coughlan to discuss.

Pharmacists are calling on the Government to allow them to provide more services to their customers
Over the past year, the role of the chemist has changed – they can now provide the morning after pill over the counter, without prescription – and can provide many vaccines
But the Irish Pharmacy Union says they should be allowed to do more – such as provide health screenings for heart disease.
They are also calling for changes to the law, so that more drugs can be made available without prescription
