The family of a late Christian Brother from Clarecastle have re-iterated their call for an investigation into accusations made against him on RTÉ’s Mission to Prey programme
Brother Gerard Dillon was accused of child abuse during the ‘Prime Time Investigates’ broadcast, which also led to RTE making a defamation settlement with Fr. Kevin Reynolds
The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland has refused to investigate the family’s claims, but Communications Minister Pat Rabbitte has said he is examining the issue – and is sympathetic towards it
Brother Dillon passed away in South Africa in December 2005 – Amanda Dillon is calling for a full investigation into the research methods used by RTÉ
On Monday’s Morning Focus John Cooke spoke with Amanda Dillon, the grand-niece of Br Gerard Dillon from Clarecastle to ask for the families reaction to the programme and what they are calling for.

The annual conference of the Irish Medical Organisation in Killarney last week heard that the life expectancy for men in poor areas is four years less and for women nearly three years less than those living in the most affluent areas
IMO President Dr Paul McKeown said the incidence of stroke and coronary heart disease is two times higher in the most deprived areas
The prevalence of chronic illness is also higher in these areas
The IMO wants a Minister for Public Health appointed to drive health prevention
The delay in the issuing of medical cards was also high on the agenda- Dr Paul McKeown spoke with John.
