On today’s show we celebrated Clare, including its history and its Olympic Champions. We also heard from Michael Harty about the Sláintecare Action Plan, Paul McGinley was on air talking about the outlook for the Irish Open plus we had The Monday Sports Panel.
First up on the show, Michael Harty, independent TD for Clare was on air addressing his own concerns about funding for the Sláintecare Action Plan.
Next on Morning Focus we looked at the Clare competitors in The Special Olympics in Abu Dhabi these past few days. Gavin was live in studio with Special Olympics Swimming Champion Emma Barrett to talk about her victory. Her coaches Karen Roland from the Bluefins Swimming Club and Eleanor McInerney from Team South Galway joined us to talk about her training.
We also heard from Pat O’Reilly, Honorary Secretary Ennis Special Olympics Golf who told us all about the welcoming party for Mairéad Morone, who won silver for Ireland.

On the show we then spoke to Paul McGinley who talked about preparations for the Irish Open this year at Lahinch Golf Club. Although Rory McIlroy will not be in attendance, McGinley is sure that the Irish Open 2019 will have a strong field.

After the news, we had our regular segment of Garda Focus with Tríona O’Rourke.
Then, Clare FM’s Fiona McGarry caught up with Jane O’Brien, a historian, to talk about Ennis as a medieval town. Throughout the week, we will be hearing from O’Brien, who runs Ennis Walking Tours, about some of the historic sights in Ennis.

Next, Gavin was joined live in studio by Jacques Brennan, who has written what he calls a cooking manual which covers everything from the basics for cooking vegan like boiling pasta, to the more complex task of cooking a four-course vegan meal.
