Morning Focus – Monday 25/11/19

Today on Morning Focus, we heard from Clare County Council CEO, Pat Dowling as he spoke to Gavin about the Clare County Council 2020 Budget.

Clare County Councillors held a special meeting on Friday evening, at which they unanimously passed the local authority’s Budget for 2020.

That the budget would pass is perhaps not a surprise – there’ve been well over a dozen meetings and workshops, mostly behind closed doors, as part of the process to prepare the €128 million plan. But will it also get the approval of the Clare public, given high levels of public anger in September when Councillors voted to increase Local Property Taxes by 15%.

If you missed it, you can listen back below:

Before that on the show, Jim Deegan, Professor of Tourism Policy and Director of the National Centre for Tourism Policy Studies at the University of Limerick, joined us on the line to discuss the future for Tourism in Clare. This was also the topic of discussion this past weekend when a wide range of tourism experts came together for a tourism policy workshop at Dromoland Castle.
