Morning Focus – Monday 16/07/18

This week Morning Focus began with coverage of the talk of Clare, Jim Warny, the Ennis man who played a vital part in the Thai Cave Rescue. Jim returned to Shannon airport on Friday where he was met by crowds of well wishers and Clare FM’s James Mulhall.

Then from one hot button issue to the next it was time to discuss transport in rural Ireland. Timmy Dooley TD was on the show calling for better rural transport as he believes it is vital to keeping smaller rural communities alive.

Then are TDs holidays too long? We took to the streets of Ennis to get your opinion on the Dáil’s two month summer break.

The show’s second hour opened with Garda Focus and following that Valery Larkin, the woman knitting the World’s Biggest Blanket.

Ok, so she may of had some help between her team of volunteers and squares she received from across the globe but either way Valery thinks she’s finally able to break the World record. Volunteers at ‘Blanket HQ’ (Red Cross offices at the Tracklands Business Park) are currently working to join together 60,000 knitted squares into a 15,000 square foot blanket.
