Then we had an update on Brexit from Bernard Purcell, editor of The Irish World, in London. Over 12 hours of debate tomorrow and Wednesday, the Prime Minister, Theresa May will attempt to overturn changes made by the House of Lords to the EU (Withdrawal) Bill which sets the legal framework for Brexit.

For the final segment of hour one, we heard from Councillors James Breen of Fianna Fáil and Johnny Flynn of Fine Gael. They, along with four of their colleagues plan to bring motion to establish a “Ennis Hospitals Working Group” to this month’s meeting of the Clare County Council. The hope is to secure the establishment of a level three hospital for Clare.

Moving into the second hour we had our Garda update from Sargent Joe Downey.

Then Edel Mee of IT Security People Ltd in Clarecastle explained what the new General Data Protections Regulations actually mean.

Then Catherine Cox of Family Carers Ireland and Susan Hogan, a Clare based carer talked about the upcoming events for this week, National Carers’ Week. There is a treatment day in Ciunas Centre, Feakle tomorrow June 12th and a stroll around Falls Hotel, Ennistymon on Thursday June 14th.

The hour ended with an update from Bernard Lucas on the Caitríona Lucas challenge.

Entering our final hour, we heard from the Monday Sports Panel who discussed all things sport including Clare’s victory on Sunday. This weeks panel included Eoin Brennan of Clare People Sport and Clare FM Sport’s own, Derrick Lynch.
