On Monday’s edition of Morning Focus we heard how the Minister for Agriculture met with Clare farmers affected by flooding and severe storm damage on Friday evening, where he said he expects clear announcements on funding later this week. Simon Coveney met with a group of around 50 West Clare farmers in Kildysart on Friday evening to inspect extensive flooding from the Shannon Estuary, after visiting Quilty and Liscannor earlier in the day. As they awaited his arrival, John Cooke spoke to some of those present to find out about flood damage to their lands, and how they're hoping the government might help He met Liam Finn and Damien Murtagh, young Farmers from Lacknashanna, Kildysart, Joe Kelly who farms in Cooraclare and Clohaninchy, Quilty, Camille Donnellan, a Community Activist in Kildysart and Joe Coughlan, a Farmer from Burrane, Killimer. Having surveyed extensive flooding from the Shannon Estuary at Lacknashanna, Kildysart, Minister Simon Coveney took shelter from the rain on the doorstep of the home of Gerard and Joan Murtagh, as a large crowd of West Clare farmers gathered to hear his views on the situation they're facing. He also took questions from local farmers, Councillors Oliver Garry and Gabriel Keating, as well as Andrew Dundass, Clare IFA President and Martin McMahon, Clare ICMSA Chairman.
Marcella Clancy and Linda Drennan are TLC4CF committee members and Parents of children with Cystic Fibrosis. They and Paediatric Cystic Fibrosis Consultant Barry Linnane were guests of the show today as it marks the launch of two new pieces of state of the art equipment in the University Hospital Limerick. This life changing equipment was purchased after a mammoth fundraising drive by TLC4CF, which raised over €205,000 to provide the much needed equipment for the Hospital. TLC4CF (Tipperary, Limerick & Clare for Cystic Fibrosis) is a regional branch of Cystic Fibrosis Ireland and was founded to improve services and supports for people with CF and their families in this region.

Ennis Community College is celebrating its 75th anniversary on Thursday next – February 13th.
