There was a lively start to the week on Morning Focus, with residents of the Turnpike in Ennis voicing concerns about damage to their properties which they say is being caused by ongoing works locally.

First up for discussion were a range of political issues, as FG Senator Martin Conway joined Gavin in studio. He spoke about a new report launched for the National Council of the Blind of Ireland on the extra costs of life with a visual impairment, as well as local and national political issues.

The situation in Catalonia, where it’s claimed that 90 percent of voters have called for independence, was then discussed with SF senator Trevor O Clochartaigh who is in Spain.

With breaking news of a horrific shooting in Las Vegas, Deputy Head of Clare FM News, Fiona Cahill joined in Gavin in studio for the very latest.

The threat to rural post offices was also an issue revisited by the show. Gavin was joined by Beatrice O’Riordan, the Post Mistress in Quilty.

With the M18/M17 open to traffic, Morning Focus asked what the implications might be for the Western Rail Corridor project. Gavin was joined by campaigner Michael O’Doherty.

New regulations governing the activities of charities were then discussed with Eamonn Timmins of the Charities Regulator. Listen back below:
