Clare's Labour TD has been expelled from it's parliamentary party. It comes after Michael McNamara voted against the government as TDs voted in favour of the sale of Aer Lingus shares in the Dáil this evening. He was the only government TD to vote against the plan. In a Dáil speech earlier, the East Clare TD called the sale of Aer Lingus a "gamble" and expressed fears that it could be detrimental for Shannon Airport. Deputy Mc Namara spoke to Gavin.

The Burren Food Trail has been named the Irish winner of this year’s “European Destination of Excellence Tourism and Local Gastronomy” (EDEN) award for developing a tourism offering based on their local gastronomy that balances sustaining the local environment with the promotion of viable tourism. A formal EDEN award ceremony will take place in The Burren in July and the winning entry will also represent Ireland at a ceremony/exhibition in Brussels later this year. Deborah Evers of Clareville House Kitchen Garden, Ballyvaughan, member of Burren Food Trail shared her delight in the receiving the award.

The “Gig For Nepal Emergency” taking place in The Temple Gate Hotel tonight at 8pm will be an opportunity to hear the finest of traditional Irish music as well as Nepalese music and Irish/Indian music while at the same time contributing to raising much needed funds for Nepal in the aftermath of the recent two devastating earthquakes. Some musicians on the night are Siobhan Peoples, Blackie O Connell, Murt Ryan, and Joan Hanrahan and friends. Gavin caught up with Organiser Martin Vernon and Ramji and Hirala Gaine Ennis musicians and natives of Nepal, who shared some of their traditional music with us.
