The death occurred of long standing former Clare Fianna Fail Councillor Sean Hillary
Mr Hillary, a cousin of former president Dr Patrick Hillary,  passed away yesterday morning in Dublin following a short illness
He served on Clare County Council for almost 2 decades from 1985 to 2004 and during that time held the office of Mayor for a two year period
A pharmacist by profession – he was also a long standing local representative in the Shannon area where he also served as mayor there for a number of terms
Sean Hillary is survived by his three sons, Feidhlim , Shane and Barry along with his daughter Majella – he is also  predeceased by his wife Paula

On Friday’s Morning Focus Dr John Hillery, Councillor Michael Hillery and Shannon Independent Councillor Patricia McCarthy paid tribute to him.

West Clare Musician PJ Murrihy had a word to launch his latest song ‘The Honky Tonk in Mullagh’
This is a Kilmurry Ibrickane Parish fundraiser and the song will be launched at the Armada Hotel this Sunday at 8.30pm (admin €5)
There are 21 people from the parish are singing on this track – also including Michael Sexton, Marty Morrissey and Clare FM’s Brian Flynn.
