The Football Association of Ireland has confirmed it accepted a payment of 5 million euro from FIFA to avoid the start of legal action. It relates to a hand-ball by Thierry Henry in the Republic of Ireland's 2010 World Cup play-off defeat to France. F-A-I chief executive John Delaney felt his organisation had a legal case against FIFA. The money would have been given back had Ireland qualified for the 2014 finals, which they didn't, so the loan was written off. Emmett Malone Football Correspondent at Irish Times had more on this. Jim Madden Clare FAI delegate joined the conversation sharing his belief that legal cases have no place in sport and that he doesn't believe that Ireland had a case.
