East Clare Councillor Joe Cooney spoke with John about an area in O’Callaghan’s Mills that has been flooded since before Christmas
He also spoke with Gerard Mulqueen – one of the residents of Dooras in O’Callaghan’s Mills – that has difficulty getting access to his property because the road is completely underwater
He spoke about using quads and tractors to get to his home and said one of the four families effected has moved out before Christmas.

The Midwest spokesperson for the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation Mary Fogarty spoke with John about overcrowding in the Midwest’s main A&E and the stress this is putting on staff
She said there are significant well being and stress issues among nurses working in the emergency department of Limerick University Hospital
This week the INMO reported that the number of people waiting on trolleys at hospitals across Ireland jumped by 2 per-cent during 2013
The group says 67,863 patients waited for admission to a hospital bed last year compared with 66,308 the previous year
Over 57,200 patients spent time on trolleys, in Emergency Departments across the country while, a further 10,577 sick people spent time on trolleys, chairs and beds above the units required levels.
Pat Gavin of Carrigaholt Post Office had a word with an update on the situation in the West Clare village
He said the road to Kilcredaun is still impassable – and that he has been going in and out on a tractor
He added that the council has begun work on the road and that a community clean-up will take place tomorrow at 11am.
The West Clare Surf Club in Lahinch are having a clean up today and tomorrow
Cliondhna Fawl spoke with John and said 50 people had already shown up to participate.
Breda McCullough of the Ballyvaughan Fanore Walking Club joined John in studio to speak about the club and invite any interested parties along to their walk in Fanore this Sunday
She also had details of the group’s marathon planned for May 24th – the launch of which will take place tomorrow
She added that the group is open to new members.
