On Friday’s Morning Focus dipped into the Tory Leadership race as there is only two candidates remaining – Boris Johnson and Jeremy Hunt.
Both of them will battle to be the next leader of the UK’s Conservatives Party, and the country’s next Prime Minister. Tory members will choose between the two over the coming weeks. Bernard Purcell who is the Editor of The Irish World gave us an insight into whats happening and how the UK feel about Boris as their leader.
Earlier this week we heard on the show how the popular donkey derby event at Sunday’s family fun day in Spancil Hill had to be cancelled because of insurance issues.

Here are some of the weekend events that we announced that are happening across are this weekend:
1) Samaritans will be holding a static cycle in Ennis Square from 9am to 9pm today to raise money (Friday) to highlight the work the Samaritans do to combat suicide and associated problems. Peadar White joined us on the phone who was currently cycling at the time.
2) The concert at Quin Church takes place on Saturday night from 8 p.m.
Two years ago, Carol started a ladies choir – it now has over 40 members.
She’s now invited three choirs and a classical trio to join them for an evening of song.
The event is Free, and is support by the Council’s community support scheme.
The Quin n Tonic Choir, the Forever Young Choir, Cantare chamber choir, The Healthy Harmony choir (Staff of Ennis General) and The Burren Classical Trio will all perform. Donations will be collected and given to Sláinte an Chláir. Carol O’Neill spoke to us about her choir.
3) An open coffee morning and information event on MS at the Clare branch of MS Ireland will be held at The Inn at Dromoland today from 10:30 until 12:30. Michael Conneely spoke to us about what the Multiple Sclerosis Society can do for you.
