Morning Focus – Friday 20/12/19

Today on Morning Focus we wrapped up the show with a Special ‘Year in Review’ Edition of our Friday Panel.

Our panellists, Tony Killeen – Former Fianna Fail TD and Minister, Patricia McCarthy – Former Shannon Cllr and Cathaoirleach and Darragh McAllister – Ennis publican and Clare VFI President joined us this morning to discuss what they thought was the biggest news headlines from the year and who is there person of the year for 2019!

To open the show we spoke to newly elected IFA President, Tim Cullinan is a farmer from Tipperary and won the race this week to replace Joe Healy as president next month. Tim says he wants to reunite farmers across the country. Turnout was low in the election, with less than 23,000 of the 70,000 IFA members voting. Indeed, we’ve heard from listeners on this programme of their concerns around what some see as the lack of representation from the different farming bodies.

Next on the show, we heard from multi-award-winning chef Neven Maguire as this day next week we’ll be picking at the remnants off the Christmas turkey and ham, however, standing between then and now is the small matter of cooking the dinner.
