The lively Friday edition of Morning Focus included a visit from Ennis artist Laura Mulcahy.
Laura told Pat Flynn she’s delighted that her album Funeral Home Lizard has been nominated for the 2017 Choice Music Prize.
The show opened with a discussion over community CCTV schemes and concerns that a new government initiative could be stymied by data protection concerns. Senator Martin Conway, a member of the Joint Oireachtas Justice Committee told Pat why he believes combating crime should take priority.
After the decision of Jim O’Dowd from O’Dowd’s in the Turnpike (also know as Clare’s luckiest shop) to retire, he joined Pat in studio to look back on 40 years in business. Listen back below:
Following controversial comments this week about rough-sleepers and those who provide voluntary support to them, Pat had a chat with Jackie Bonfield, CEO of Midwest Simon. Jackie also updated Pat on final preparations for the organisations annual sleep-out in Thomand Park, Limerick. Listen back below:
Then, things took a lighter turn, with an interview and a song from Seán Lyons, the winner of Clare’s Got Talent 2017.
After that, Pat heard from Shay Kinsella, founder of the Share a Dream Foundation, and the Clare connections that lead to the setting up of this life-changing organisation.
After the round-up of weekend events, Pat was joined by this week’s panelists: Patricia McCarthy, Brian Meaney and Martin McMahon. Listen back below:
