Morning Focus – Friday 12th April 2019

Today’s show was packed with events, debates and music! We heard more about the Clare Bus controversy, the changing trends of Clare weddings plus we had our Friday Panel and live music from Brendan T Walsh and Gráinne Hunt. Catch the best bits below:

First up on the show, we heard more about the Clare Bus service following a meeting in Dublin last night between representatives from Clare Bus, Clare’s Oireachtas members and the NTA in Dublin.

Then, we had Clara Malone and Orla Cronin from Coastal Ceremonies live in studio to talk about recent figures released by the CSO about a change in wedding trends and how Clare compares to the rest of the country.

Next we heard from Áine Lorié, who will run Monday’s Boston Marathon in memory of her late cousin Sile Callinan of Cooraclare.

Sile, who fought cystic fibrosis throughout her life, passed away just over two years ago.

On Monday, Áine will run in her first marathon, in Boston, fundraising for research for CF at Massechussets General Hospital.

Just before the news, Gavin spoke to Pauila Dempsey, an adjudicator at the All-Ireland Drama Finals in Doonbeg about some of the amazing productions that she’s seen so far.

Then on the show, we had our weekly Friday Panel which this week featured Gabriella Hanrahan, Community Liason Officer at UL; Peter O’Connell, editor of the Clare Champion and Martin Waldron from Craftworks in Corofin. We touched on the state of rural Irealnd, whether Ireland is too quick to call for ministerial resignations and our favourite sitcoms.
