A hectic edition of Morning Focus included an in-depth look at the outcome of the elections in the UK, a chat with our Friday Panel and some live music all the way from Nepal.

Gavin was joined on the line by Bernard Purcell, Editor of The Irish World, who outlined the possible impact of the hung parliament.

Denis Vaughan, Spokesperson for International Affairs for the Clare Labour Party was Gavin’s next guest as he discussed the significance of the result for the British Labour Party under Jeremy Corbyn.

The talk then turned to Irish political matters when FF TD, Timmy Dooley, joined Gavin in studio.

The round-up of weekend events covered the Loop Head Food Circle and its ‘Taste the Loop’ event on Sunday (June 11) in Kilkee; the 12 O’Clock Hills Restoration and Heritage Committee’s ‘Great East Clare Hill Challenge’ on Saturday July 8, in support of Clare Crusaders; and an open garden afternoon hosted by Terri and Alan Shoosmith in support of CF services at Galway University Hospital at Rock Vale Garden Studio outside Gort on Sunday.

The Friday Panel was made up this week of John Considine (former member of Humberside County Council and a member of the British Labour Party); Diarmuid McMahon (Sherry Fitzgerald McMahon, Ennis) and Mary Ellen Fean (The Poetry Collective). Listen back below:

This edition of Morning Focus wrapped up with a discussion about conditions in Nepal after the devastating earthquake of 2015. Gavin was joined in studio by Sandy Ramsey who’s involved in educational projects there. Her husband Hiralal Gaime and his brother Ramji played the traditional Nepalese instruments, the sarangi and the madal drum.
