Following on from Storm Lorenzo, Adrian Kelly, Chief Fire Officer for Clare and Michael Vaughan, Lahinch hotelier and former President of the Irish Hotels Federation joined us on air to discuss the impact the storm had on the County. A Status Yellow warning remained in place until 11 o’clock this morning. We were very lucky as we seemed to have avoided the worst of it. However nationally, 4 thousand homes and businesses were left without power.

Next on the show, Peadar King, producer and presenter of the RTÉ global affairs series  ‘What in the World?’ joined us on air to discuss a conference, ‘World Beyond War’, that’s taking place this weekend (Sat & Sun, Oct 5 & 6) in Limerick’s South Court Hotel. It’s an annual gathering of a global organization that will see activists and academics from around the world come together. Barry Sweeney who is the Country Coordinator of World Beyond War joined us on-air also to tell us more about the event.

Next, Gerry McGovern from the Cavan/Fermanagh area joined us on the show as he is undertaking a 300km solo trip down the River Shannon from Dowra in Cavan to Killimer in Clare. Gerry is doing this to raise funds for a number of charities including the Irish Cancer Society, the ISPCA and the Samaritans. He hoped he would make the journey in five days however Storm Lorenzo changed his plans, he embarked on his trip on September 30th and hopes to get to Clare by Sunday, October 6th. We wish him the very best of luck.
