Retained Firefighters Warn Of Serious Risk To Downgrading Shannon

The National Retained Firefighters Association is warning of a serious risk to health and safety if Shannon’s station is downgraded.

Clare County Council is to present a new Draft Fire and Emergency Operations Plan later this year and it’s understood this will take account of a recent risk assessment that says Shannon’s station can operate with 12 rather than 15 personnel.

Speaking on Clare FM’s Morning Focus, NRFA Chair Stephen McFadden says it would have severe consequences in life-threatening situations.
