A busy Wednesday show included the monthly gathering of the Morning Focus Book Club. Teresa Carmody-O’Shea from Clare County Library HQ and Elaine Corbett from Shannon Library chatted with Gavin about ‘All the Light we Cannot See’ by Anthony Doerr. The government’s track record on tackling homelessness in the Midwestern region was then discussed with Sinn Féin MEP for Ireland South, Liadh Ní Riada telling Gavin that more action needs to be taken to address the problem in Clare and Limerick.

As the strike at Bus Éireann enters its sixth day, Gavin was joined on the line by Killaloe councillor Tony O’Brien (FF) who is also a member of the National Bus and Rail Workers’ Union (NBRU).

Concerns have been caused by a new smartphone craze called SimSimi, a chat app which has been linked to cyberbullying. To discuss the issue, and to offer advice to parents, Cliona Curley, Programme Director of Cyber Safe Ireland, joined Gavin was joined on the line. Listen back below:

Ahead of a networking event hosted in Bunratty by Shannon, Ennis and Limerick Chambers, the Founder and CEO of Diaspora Matters, Kingsley Aikins, joined Gavin with advice and tips for those aiming for career and business success.

Gavin’s next guests were the Polish Vice Ambassador to Ireland, Piotr Rakowski and Robert Bak, the Secretary for Trade at the Polish Embassy. They joined Gavin in studio to discuss the upcoming Polska Éire festival and the cultural connections between the two countries. Listen back below:

As Ennis gets set for its annual spring clean, Cormac McCarthy the PRO of Ennis Tidy Towns joined Gavin to discuss how communities can get involved.

The Pakie Ryan Memorial event takes place on Saturday next (April 1). Since 2009, it’s raised €250,000 for a range of charities. Anthony O’Looney chairperson of the event joined Gavin in studio along with Franes Ryan, Pakie’s widow, Gráinne Ryan, Pakie’s sister-in-law.

They explained the significant of the event for the community around Newmarket-on-Fergus, and for the charities the event supports. Listen back below:
