This Monday’s show opened with a look at recent figures which emerged from an online consultation carried out by the Irish College of General Practitioners (ICGP) where around 26 percent of there 3,500 members took part.
They found that two thirds of GPs would not personally provide abortion services with a majority opting to refer patients to a colleague. Dr Tony Cox the Medical Director for the ICGP discussed the situation with Gavin.
The hour ended with Gavin being joined by Sharon Cahir of Cahir and Co. Solicitors for a discussion of just what exactly should be in your will.
Opening the second hour was show regular Garda Crime Prevention Officer Tríona O’Rourke with our Garda Focus segment.
Then we had a look at dog fouling on the streets of Clare with Clare FM’s own Fiona Cahill. According to figures secured by Fiona only two fines have been issued for dog fouling in the past two years, 2017 and 2018, with none at all being issued in 2016 at all.
Then Gavin spoke with Senator Frances Black. Black is currently pushing to pass a bill in the Dáil which would ban the importation of goods from illegal settlements. This is in response to the ongoing conflict in Israel and Palestine. Black is holding a number of public meetings to drum up support for both the bill and Palestine. One such meeting is “What we saw in Palestine: Why Ireland must act against injustice”. It’ll take place in the South Court Hotel in Limerick at 8pm on November 19th.

Then environmental campaigner Féidhlim Harty took the time to speak with Gavin. He spoke about upcoming workshops being held by Tidy Towns on how to live a ‘zero waste life’. These begin tonight (Monday, November 12th) running in the Waterpark House on Drumbiggle Road from 6:45pm. Further events will run at the same time and place on November 19th and 26th.

Finally the show ended with a look at submarine inventor John Phillip Holland from Liscannor. Tonight (November 12th) will see the man honoured with a tv documentary on RTÉ 1. Tony Duggan a researcher and special advisor for that documentary joined Gavin to give us some details.
