This edition of Morning Focus opened with a discussion in studio with Senator Martin Conway who grilled Garda Commissioner Noirín O’Sullivan at this week’s meeting of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Justice.

The Garda controversy has also cast doubt over the accuracy of figures on domestic violence. Garda discussed the issue with Caitríona Gleeson, Programme and Communications Manager with Safe Ireland. Caitríona is a native of Killaloe.

The topic of childcare was discussed next as Gavin spoke to Teresa Heeney of Early Childhood Ireland who spoke about the problems providers are having in recruiting and retaining staff.
