Sexual Violence More Prevalent Than Documented – Rape Crisis Midwest

Rape Crisis Midwest believes incidents of sexual violence is far more prevalent in people’s lives than has been documented.

It comes as the number of victims, who have sought support from it’s Ennis office more than doubled last year, with 45 people accessing the Clare-based service in 2018, up from 21 the previous year.

The organisation is putting the rise down to a number of factors, including the increased availability of counselling hours in the county town, as well as greater awareness prompted by the Belfast Rape Trial.
