Solar Powered Bins Installed In Doolin

New solar-powered bins have been installed in Doolin, in a bid to combat littering at the tourist hotspot.

Last year, an An Taisce report for IBAL named Doolin as a litter blackspot, a term which was strongly rejected by local community groups.

But in a bid to improve levels of tidiness, Doolin2Aran Ferries have purchased the Irish-made, solar-powered compacting waste management unit.

It will supplement the Council’s waste collection service at Doolin pier, and is similar to other solar-powered bins that have been put in place by the local authority in Kilrush, Kilkee and at the Cliffs of Moher.
