A Clare Sinn Fein representative is re-iterating that his party is not against the HPV Vaccine.
It follows widespread condemnation of remarks by newly elected Clare TD Violet Anne Wynne, that she made on social media in 2017, which emerged in media reports yesterday.
The Health Minister has hit out against the comments, while Clare Fine Gael TD Joe Carey has said they’re the undoing the good work of the late Laura Brennan, who campaigned for better uptake of the HPV Vaccine.
The Kilrush TD has since retracted the comments which were made on Facebook in 2017, in which she said the vaccine has side-effects, and that concerns about it are not being heard.
Vice Chairperson of Shannon Sinn Féin, Gary Fitzgibbon has spoken to Deputy Wynne and says he doesn’t believe the comments are still relevant today.
