Morning Focus – Wednesday 04/09/19

The midweek edition of Morning Focus heard all about forest ‘bathing’ and why taking a walk in the woods can help with all kinds of health issues, including migraine.

Gavin was joined by Kerry Walker from Brigid’s Garden in Galway who will be leading a special walk on Sunday (September 8) at that venue, as part of Migraine Awareness Week (September 9-15).

The show opened with a discussion of the latest dramatic developments with the Brexit process. Gavin heard from Andy Pike from Ennis, a member of a group called ‘Brits Not Out’ who demonstrated at the British Embassy in Dublin on Tuesday night (Sept 3).

Then, there was a report from Doonbeg, where Clare FM’s James Mulhall was out and about meeting locals as US Vice President Mike Pence held a family dinner in Morrissey’s. Listen back below:

Gavin also heard more on the impact of Brexit from Declan Naughton, Director of Driver Testing and Licensing with the NDLS, who had advice for those driving in Ireland on a UK licence.

In the second hour of the show, Gavin heard from Cllr Ian Lynch from Kilrush who raised concerns about the impact of those camping in West Clare. He called for byelaws and improved facilities to minimise issues like littering. He also raised concerns over the impact on West Clare of increased pressure on the region’s main hospital, UHL.

Then, Gavin was joined by author Vivienne Kearns. Her debut novel, ‘The Emerald Dress’ is fast becoming a best-seller. Listen back below:
