Housing Minister Under Fire For Defending Five-Year Ban From Social Housing List

A West Clare Sinn Féin representative is hitting out at the Housing Minister for defending a proposed five-year ban from social housing lists.

Under the new rules, those who turn down two offers of social housing from their local authority will be suspended from the list for five years, rather than the current 12 month ban.

Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy told the Dáil this week that the measure will be brought forward in the near future and that it’s “ultimately fair”.
