Ennis Chamber Responds to Rates Reform Proposals

The government says it’s about to make major changes to the commercial rates system.

It’s progressing legislation to make it easier for local authorities to offer incentives to new business and to drive development in areas in need of revitalisation.
Minister for Local Government, John Paul Phelan, who is spearheading the reform has also promises greater transparency about how the €1.5bn raised every year, nationally, from rates, is spent.
