Concern That Income From Tourism Not Enough To Support Coastal Clare

Concern is being expressed that tourism income isn’t doing enough to support coastal Clare communities.

A CSO report, entitled Urban and Rural Life in Ireland, has revealed that the urban/rural divide is well and truly alive in this county, with average household incomes much lower outside of the larger towns.

Parts of west and north Clare in particular are well below the national average in terms of the median household income, while the likes of Ennis of Shannon are performing much better, with Killaloe coming out on top.
