Brennan says Clare do not fear Waterford

Clare midfielder Gary Brennan says Clare should have nothing to fear from Waterford ahead of their national football league opener tomorrow in Cusack park.

The Clondegad man is named on a provisonal starting 15 at midfield but is likely to be used in the full forward berth during the 70 minutes.

He feels that despite Clare losing their last two encounters to the Deise that they have to go into tomorrows game beliveving they can win :

It’s preceded at Croke Park by the Division Two pairing of Kildare and Tyrone at 5 o’clock....

Both Clare and Limerick will field weakened teams for tonights Waterford Crystal cup q-final in
Sixmilebridge.

Davy Fitzgerald and John Allen will both be without a number of first team starters due to college committments while its expected that both Seadna Morey and Aaron Cunningham will retain their places in the side from last week's win over W.I.T

Clare selector Mike deegan says playing at home udner lights could prove useful for the league opener between the sides later this month :

New Clare captain Alan Clohessy says making up for the disappointing start to last year's league campign is the big motivation ahead of this Sunday's clash with Waterford.

Clare lost their opening two league matches in 2011 and also had two players sent off in both games which derailed their bid for promotion.

The Liscannor man,named as the 2012 captain, told Clare fm they can't let it happen again :

A provisional side for Sunday has been named but Micheal Mc Dermott is expected to make a number of changes before throw in due to late fitness tests.

McGrath to make Clare Senior Football début on Sunday

Shane McGrath makes his début for Clare and will line out at centre half forward for this weekend's First Round National League Clash with Waterford.

Clare Senior Hurling selector Mike Deegan is expecting a much tougher challenge from Limerick in the q-final of the Waterford Crystal cup than the one posed by W.I.T last week

Clare take on their neighbours in Sixmilebridge at 7pm on Saturday with the winner playing UCC or Waterford in the last four.

Deegan told Clare FM that the younger players who performed well last weekend will be expected to step up their performance:

Clare ladies manager Noelle Comyn says she isn't worrying too much about her sides opposition on Sunday when they begin their division two campaign.

The new Clare ladies boss takes charge for the first time against Waterford in Doonbeg which throws in at 2pm.

Limerick manager John Allen doesnt believe this Saturday's Waterford crystal game against Clare will be of much value to his side due to the number of players absent.

The former All Ireland winning manager takes charge of Limerick for the very first time on Saturday just three weeks before Clare take on the Treatymen in the national hurling league opener.
