Clare’s most successful jockey believes it is Champ’s turn to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup ahead of the pinnacle race of the Festival this afternoon.

Tubber’s Derek O Connor rode Edwulf in the feature race at the Cotswolds in 2018, but isn’t at this year’s renewal of the event due to amateur riders being prevented from travelling as a result of COVID-19 restrictions.

Champ is likely to line up as second favourite behind the Willie Mullins-trained Al Boum Photo, who’s aiming for his third successive Gold Cup.
