Clare jockey Derek O’Connor has been honoured at the annual Horse Racing Ireland awards.
The Tubber native has won “Ride of the Year” for his sterling turn aboard Edwulf in the Unibet Gold Cup at the Dublin Racing Festival at Leopardstown.
It’s the first year this category has featured at these awards.

A total of 10 awards were given at the ceremony last night in Dublin, which saw the Jessica Harrington-trained Alpha Centauri was crowned 2018 Horse of the Year.
