Starting with Gaa and Clare have gotten off to a winning start in their National football league campaign after a 1-9 to 11 point win over Wicklow today in Cusack Park.

Wicklow led at half time by 7 points to 2 and looked set for victory before the Banner scored 6 unanswered points between the 39th and 53rd minutes to elave the siees at 9 points to 8 in favour of the Garden county.

A goal from Gearoid Lynch was  the spark for victory after 60 minutes  with David Tubridy scoring the winner with 2 minutes remaining to hand Clare the perfect start to the 2010 campaign.

There was disapointment for the Clare ladies football side today when they  lost their opening National League Fixture  against Armgh by 2-14 to 1-4.

Clare trailed at half time by a single point but despite playing with the breeze in the second half they were powerless to stop a strong Armagh side extending their lead.

And it was also a disappointing afternoon for St caimin’s as Ard Scoil ris booked their place in the Harty cup final with a 16 point to 6 win in Meelick today.

In soccer and in the prego menswear cup there was wins today for Cratloe Forest, Bridge United A,the holders                
Rineanna Rovers  Hermitage A, Sporting Ennistymon  after their game with Shannon Olympic went to penalties after it ended 5-5 after 120 minutes.

There was also wins for Burren United,Rineanna Rovers B , Rock Rovers and Manus Celtic.
