Clare have secured their second victory of the 2017 Allianz National Football League Division Two, writes Clare FM’s Derrick Lynch.

The 2-11 to 0-9 win over Cork means the Banner have 5 points on the board after the opening four rounds.

Cork started brightest, and registered the first three points of the game.

The first score for the home side was a goal from Cian O’Dea and a free from Eoin Cleary saw the Banner lead for the first time.

The sides headed for the dressing room level, on a scoreline of Clare 1-2 Cork 0-5.

Colm Collins side started the second half brightly, and some excellent scores from Cathal O’Connor, Ciaran Russell, David Tubridy and Jamie Malone saw them take control.

Malone split the Cork defence to slam home a goal in the closing five minutes to put the result beyond doubt.

Joe Hayes had an outstanding afternoon with a sensational double save to keep the Cork attack at bay while he also stood firm against a late penalty.

Elsewhere, Kildare eased past Fermanagh, Meath beat Galway and Down were comfortable winners over Derry.
