Clare’s Stephen Fitzgerald has been ruled out of the Connacht team for this weekend’s PRO14 showdown with Munster in Galway.

The Ardnacrusha native made his debut for his new club last weekend when he came off the bench in their 21-12 victory over Ulster.

However, Munster coach Johan van Grann has confirmed that a condition of his three-month loan deal means he cannot face his native province.

Connacht Rugby have confirmed that the contest has been sold out.

Munster, in second place, lead Connacht by just three points in Conference A but lost 20-16 to the Westerners on their last visit to Galway.

It’s Munster’s last game before back-to-back Champions Cup games away to Gloucester on Friday week (January 11th) and home verses Exeter eight days later.

Billy Holland will make his 200th appearance for Munster.

Kick-off on Saturday in the Sportsground is at 7.35pm.
