Shock death of Oscar Traynor Manager

There’s widespread shock and sadness in local soccer circles following the sudden death of  well known Clare Oscar Traynor Cup manager Hugh Kelly.

The Derry man passed away yesterday afternoon at his home just weeks before he was due to lead the county side in the semi finals of this years competition.

He  had represented Derry city in his own playing days and was part of several successful Clare soccer sides.

Chairman of the Clare District Soccer League Jim Madden says he was an incredibly committed man to the Oscar Traynor and Clare soccer as well and was very committed to the players.

He added that he will be very sadly missed and was the most successful manager in junior soccer in the county and he lead the county to winning its first ever Oscar Trayor trophy in 2004
