Another of Clare’s 2013 All Ireland winning heroes has called time on his intercounty career.

Newmarket’s Colin Ryan brings the curtain down on his time in the saffron and blue jersey that saw him win an All Ireland U21 and senior title with the Banner along with a National Hurling League.

Ryan made his debut for the Clare Senior hurlers in 2007, and two years later was part of the U21 side that won the Banner’s first ever title at the grade.

He was a central figure in the side that won the All Ireland senior crown in 2013, scoring a total of 0-70 across the championship season.

Ryan also won a National Hurling league medal with Clare in 2016, but opted out of the squad this year to concentrate on soccer with the Banner’s Oscar Traynor panel.

He was victorious here too as Clare defended their title, and is remaining part of that squad as they look to win a third title in a row.

It’s the second of Clare’s 2013 squad to announce their retirement this week after two time All Star defender Brendan Bugler brought the curtain down his career.
