Pulling Minor Football Disappointing – Coughlan

The GAA have confirmed that all under-20 and minor intercounty competitions will be paused after tonight.

The decision has been in taken in light of the government’s decision to move to level 5 of the Covid-19 restrictions which do not come into effect until midnight.

Clare’s minor footballers were due to be in action against Tipperary this Saturday.

Manager Dermot Coughlan says it’s disappointing to have it pulled when they’re so close to the match.

Clare’s young camogie stars are also impacted by the cancellation of underage games.

This weekend was due to see Clare take on Cork and Tipperary in different Under-16 competitions, while the county Minors were to take on Galway.

Clare’s Juniors are scheduled to face Wexford in their All Ireland Championship but as that is an adult-age competition, it may still go ahead as planned.
