The Tubber man was aboard Balnaslow and stayed on well to finish behind Dineur at a price of 7/1 over the Grand National fences.
Elsewhere today Buveur D’Air followed up victory in the Champion Hurdle win in the Aintree Hurdle, while 11-to-4-on favourite Defi Du Seuil won the Juvenile Hurdle.
