No Joy For O’Connor As Native River Storms To 2018 Cheltenham Gold Cup

There was no joy for Clare’s Derek O’Connor in the main event of the 2018 Cheltenham Festival.

The Tubber man and his mount Edwulf finished well down the field in the Gold Cup which was won by 5/1 shot Native River

The Colin Tizzard trained winner beat favourite Might Bite in a thrilling finish up the famous hill at Prestbury Park.

Earlier, the Grade 1 Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle was won well by Kilbricken Storm with 19 year old Harry Cobden earning a first festival success on board.

Flarclas claimed the opening race of the day to give trainer Gordon Elliot his 7th win of the festival.

Bridget Andrews rode Moyahad to success in 2.10 Randox Health County Handicap Hurdle.
