No Forced Relegation In This Year’s Championship Says Clare Camogie

The PRO of Clare Camogie says there will be no forced relegation or promotion in this year’s championships.

It comes as the draws have been made for the 2020 Clare Senior Camogie Championship.

Kilmaley, Kilkishen/Bodyke, Newmarket On Fergus, and St Joseph’s make up Group A, while reigning Champions Scariff/Ogonnelloe are in Group B along with Inagh-Kilnamona, Truagh Clonlara and Sixmilebridge.

The opening round gets underway on July 24th, when Kilmaley take on Kilkishen/Bodyke.

The remaining three matches will take place on the 25th, Newmarket on Fergus will go up against St Joseph’s, Inagh-Kilnamona play Truagh-Clonlara, and Sixmilebridge will take on Scariff-Ogonnelloe.

Six teams face off in the intermediate championship; Tulla, Feakle Killanena, Clooney Quin, Whitegate, Eire Og and Clarecastle/Ballyea, with the first of five rounds getting underway on July 19th.

Under the Camogie Association’s guidelines, teams will still be allowed to relegate or promote themselves if they finish top or bottom of their league but are under no obligation to do so.

Bríd McNamara says it has gone a long way to take the pressure off teams in this unprecedented year.
