Newmarket Celtic Through To FAI Junior Cup Semis While Shannon Town Crash Out After Penalties

Newmarket Celtic are through to the semi-finals of the FAI Junior Cup after defeating Mervue United in penalties.

The clash in Galway finished up three goals apiece after 90 minutes and was forced to go to extra time, which still saw no winner emerge.

The Clare men progressed to the semi-finals of the competition after defeating Mervue 5-4 on penalties.

Shannon Town were also in FAI Junior Cup Quarter Final action this afternoon, for the first time in the club’s history.

They took on Pike Rovers in Frank Healy Park Doora in a game that ended 0-0 after extra time.

The Limerick team emerged as winners after penalties, sending the Clare men crashing out of the competition.
